OLAW has posted an Update on the Requirement for Instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research which includes guidance on the use of online training to fulfill this requirement. This update is notice number NOT-OD-10-019.
Massachusetts Society for Medical Research is now offering online training for IACUC community members. This six week online course will help educate community IACUC members on the use of animals in research, regulations and other mandates, and their important role on the committee.
APHIS has begun posting inspection reports for research facilities on their website. Although inspection reports have been available through the Freedom of Information Act for many years, this allows anyone with an internet connection to view inspection reports instantly. Institutions may want to review the procedure for appealing USDA citations, which is available in Animal Care's Research Facility Inspection Guide, section 7.8.
