NABR, SFN and FASEB announce a Best Practices Guide for Responding to FOIA Requests: "Responding to FOIA Requests: Facts and Resources. " A free download is available on the NABR website.
APHIS now posts annual reports, inspection reports, and recent AWA enforcement violations for research facilities on their website. Although inspection reports have been available through the Freedom of Information Act for many years, this allows anyone with an internet connection to view inspection reports instantly. Institutions may want to review the procedure for appealing USDA citations, which is available in Animal Care's Research Facility Inspection Guide, section 7.8.
The Guide for the Care and Use of Agricultural Animals in Research and Teaching, Third Edition, is now available on the FASS website. The PDF file can be downloaded for free!
