News & Upcoming Events

OLAW has UPDATED their FAQ on the use of Designated Member Review subsequent to Full Committee Review on their website.

APHIS will be posting research facility inspection reports on their website in the near future. Although inspection reports have been available through the Freedom of Information Act for many years, this will allow anyone with an internet connection to view inspection reports instantly. Institutions may want to review the procedure for appealing USDA citations, which is available in Animal Care's Research Facility Inspection Guide, section 7.8.

APHIS Animal Care Stakeholder Announcement: the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) which is recognized by the World Trade Organization as the body for setting animal health standards in international trade, welcomes comments on its newly created Draft Proposal on the Use of Animals in Research, Testing or Teaching. Comments are due to the USDA no later than July 10, 2009. Fact sheet on the OIE and supporting international trade can be found through the USDA website, or by clicking here.
